Let me ask you this…When was the last time an investment representative advised you to sell out of the stock market and instead invest in a safer money market account as a means of possibly avoiding a potential major market downturn in order to save your hard-earned investment money?  My guess is probably “never.” Perhaps a representative has asked you to sell a security, only to replace it with another one, which may even have required you to pay a charge to complete the trade. This may not be an effective strategy for getting out of the stock market at the right time.
